Yesterday, from an idyllic Beverly Hills manse setting on Alpine Drive, Burberry Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey hosted a tea party to unveil the brand’s new 96-item makeup collection. Under white canopies in the garden, Kate Bosworth, Lake Bell, Jayma Mays, Rachel Zoe and Serena Williams were among the L.A. lovies served scones and cucumber sandwiches, iced tea and champagne.
In a suit sans tie, Bailey graciously introduced his newest designs. It was during photo shoots and runway shows he said he found himself longing for subtle shades to complete the Burberry look: natural, light, timeless and iconic. The final collection is extensive. There are some 20 lipstick and eyeshadow shades, nine liquid and pressed foundations, plus blush and bronzing palettes.
The compacts are a sleek gun metal while the makeup hues are representative of the iconic Trench—taupes, nudes, beiges and blushes. The packaging is truly the next generation with magnetized lipstick casing and weighted palettes. In a show of detailed craftsmanship, there’s a subtle plaid imprint on both the cases and the product itself–even the lipsticks are pressed with the signature print.
The Burberry Beauty line is exclusive to Nordstrom flagships. The sole California outlets are in San Francisco and South Coast Plaza until otherwise decided, and the line landed on counters this past weekend.
